Fire safety preparedness and clean-up weekend 27 &28 November 2021

Fire Ready requirements With the declared fire danger period approaching, it’s time for property lessees at Mt Buller to think about getting their properties ‘fire ready’. Some practical tips to meet the fire ready requirements include: - Cut/whipper-snip long grass, - Remove wood and rubbish (flammable or not) from around your building, - Do not stack firewood on or under timber balconies, - Close all property windows and doors, - Reduce gaps in your building (i.e. seal up any holes in eaves and cladding), - Rake up areas of fine fuel such as leaf litter and bark, and - Remove fallen limbs and twigs. Carrying out any vegetation works outside those listed above requires specific permission available here. Download the CFA Fire Ready kit here and the CFA Guide to Survival leaflet here.
