Stakeholder update - April

Dear stakeholders,

I’m pleased to share the news that the Boggy Creek Reservoir continues to fill and is now at more than 30 per cent capacity.

This is a higher level than at the beginning of May last year. It is currently filling at rates of up to 500,000 litres per day, and we look forward to autumn rains significantly boosting that fill rate.

With a month left in our green season, it is pleasing to see that we’ve had a boost in our summer visitation this year.

Mt Buller was proud to host the National Mountain Biking Championships from 11-16 March, which saw more than 800 competitors, along with their family, friends and supporters visit Mt Buller for what was a fantastic week of competition.

The resort was absolutely buzzing, and I wanted to thank our summer stakeholders for their support in helping us to host this prestigious event. The feedback from AusCycling, the event organiser, was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to building on this relationship into the future.

The excitement is not done yet, with the inaugural Buller Billycart Bash taking place on Saturday, 12 April, and a huge Easter long weekend ahead.

In addition to the Mountain High Fun Run on Easter Saturday (19 April) , we’re also holding an autumn clean-up day. The Boggy Corner waste transfer station will be open on the Saturday for hard waste collection for those who want to get a start on those pre-winter preparations.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Sunday, 13 April, and AirZone will also be open across the weekend to keep the kids entertained. All the details are at mtbuller.com.au.

With the start of the snow season just over 60 days away, I wanted to update you on some of our recent works.

We’ve started replacing the pavers in the Village Square with a concrete aggregate. The first section outside the supermarket is complete with further stages to be finished during the next green season. We’ve also done a substantial amount of kerb replacement.

Our gravel road resheeting and annual grading program is complete across both Mt Buller and Mt Stirling and there has been stormwater and civil works around the resort. We’ve continued with our program to replace or remediate sewer pits to reduce stormwater infiltration, and there’s been a focus on preventative maintenance within all our asset classes.

We are also pleased to report that VicRoads has been busy clearing drains along the Buller Rd.

Preparations for the ski season include increasing capacity in the Village Plaza by 54 seats, as well as upgrades to toilets in the Plaza, Horse Hill and at Celia’s. There are four additional toilets and 18 have been replaced to ensure they won't be out of service. Other improvements include fixing and replacing glazing, heating, ventilation and fan extraction, insulation and painting. There is also improved drainage and new paths surrounding Celia's.

With the countdown to winter well and truly on, it was great to see BSL testing the snowfactories. There’s a real chill in the air this week, so let’s hope it isn’t too long before the first flakes start falling.

General Manager Mt Buller and Mt Stirling
